After Man Utds historic 19th league title last season the bookies have been quick to price up the Premiership betting odds and there is a general feeling that Man Utd will be celebrating a 20th league title as they are the favourites to retain their title although there are signs that this could be the most open Premiership title race ever.
In previous seasons there has always been the big four dominating but with Man City now a Champions League side, Tottenham looking a couple of players off challenging and Liverpool beginning to look back to their best under Kenny Dalglish we could now be looking at a big six. The competitive nature of the Premiership means that Man Utd, despite being favourites to retain the title, are available at decent odds of 15/8 with several bookies at the time of writing. United have already spent big money this summer and more big signings look set to follow so Man Utd fans certainly have reason to be optimistic once again, in what could be Sir Alex Fergusons final season in charge at Old Trafford before retirement.
Chelsea are the second favourites to win back the Premiership title, at the time of writing they are still searching for a new manager to replace Carlo Ancelotti and who they appoint could still influence their odds, which are currently available at 11/4 generally. Chelsea looked certain to win the Premiership early on last season but soon completely fell apart and with a couple more signings they could even be challenging for favouritism.
Man City are next best in the Premiership Odds, they can finally offer potential signings the promise land of Champions League football and although they look certain to make more big signings this summer Tottenham found out last season how difficult it is to balance Champions League football with a Premiership challenge and City may just fall short next season, even with their talented squad.
Arsenals day of challenging for the title could be over according to the bookies and they may even struggle for! a top f our place as they are 8/1 to win the league with Liverpool not far behind at 11/1. Liverpool did brilliantly in the second half of last season but the pressure will be on now and they look a bit underpriced, especially considering Spurs could improve massively if finding the right striker to score 20 goals a season for them, Spurs are 50/1 and should be close to Arsenal and Liverpool.
