After Rory McIlroy tore up the record books at the US Open last week its back to the bread and butter of the European Tour.

Clinker mein freunds! This week, its the Bavarian Motor Works International Open, precision engineered for the 14th year in a row at the Golfclub Munchen Eichenried in Germany. At 500 yards shorter than Congressional, this is a relatively short outing for the players teeing it up this week.

With a previous record low score of 27 under and despite recent work on more bunkering and enhanced water features expect golfing scores to be as small as Harold Faltermeyers back catalogue.

Clearly feeling the hangover from the US Open Ror-gasm last weekend, the light-on-big-names Mini Cooper Open comprises an appropriate sprinkling of our Lederhosen sporting and stein swilling friends including inventor of the Yips, Bernard Langer (265/1 at Betfair), and his fiery 2006 World Cup winning teammate Marcel Siem (151/1 at Betfair).

The field also includes Michael Campbell (500/1 at Bet365) and fresh from the Sky Sports commentary box in Maryland Colin Montgomerie (408/1 at Betfair!).

Consider:

Regen. (Rain!) From thunderstorms on Thursday to solid rege! n for th e rest of the weekend means the course may play slightly longer but also wider and easier for the less accurate of hitters in the field.

However, if its low scoring you want, its low scoring you shall get, so consider three relatively easy par 5 birdie possibilities: the 481 yard 6th hole (shorter than many of todays par 4s) the 556 yard 11th hole with water right off the tee (though not in play) and short of the green and the 568 yard dog leg left finishing hole with water hugging the inside corner.

This ones for the straight hitters and good putters leaving everyone else just plain bitte.

Ones to watch:

Putting his towels on the deckchairs early this year is Martin Kaymer (10/1 pretty much everywhere including Skybet, Bet365, Boylesports and Betfred) who is yet to show much in the way of the real clinical form of last year since his win in Abu Dhabi. However, a home crowd and fired up by yet another mediocre showing at a Major Championship will surely drive forward his season proper in time for The Open in 3 weeks.

One of the most steady performing players on the European Tour, and quite simply one of the worlds best putters (ranking high in both putts per green in regulation, single putts per round and average putts) and with two US Open titles under his belt, Retief Goosen (20/1 at Coral) is my second ein, um zuzusehen although the South African has been without a win in Europe since 2007 he has regained a lot of his short game form and is once again a contender.

Long and straight like The Ultimate Driving Machine and clutching a sponsors invite, Dustin Johnson ! (14/1 fr om Skybet, Sportingbet & Paddy Power) recovering from a dismal performance in the US Open, makes a rare trip across the pond to play in this prestigious Rolls Royce International Open. A major contender in 2010, the talented American is having his best year to date in European Tour and hopes that his appearance will end in joy.

Thomas Aiken (40/1 William Hill) is a class act; a solid and consistent performer and a former plus 6 handicap! The South African already has one win under his belt in 2011 from the Open de Espana and played exceptionally well just ahead of the US Open but cant wait to demonstrate some flawless driving and get the BMW International Open trophy in his Hans.
